Description

The mouse monoclonal antibody clone 124-1D1 binds to human CD7, also known as gp40 or Leu-9. CD7 is a 40 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is highly expressed on thymocytes and mature T cells and is also present on natural killer (NK) cells, hematopoietic progenitor cells, and a minor subset of monocytes. CD7 functions primarily as a costimulatory receptor. Engagement of CD7—including interaction with its characterized ligand SECTM1/K12—can enhance T-cell activation and proliferation and support NK-cell interferon-gamma secretion. CD7-mediated signaling involves PI3K-associated intracellular pathways. Clone 124-1D1 specifically recognizes human CD7 and is suitable for the identification and analysis of CD7-expressing lymphoid populations in flow cytometry and related immunoassays.
