The B-A19 monoclonal antibody binds to human CD56, a 120 to 180-kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein in the immunoglobulin superfamily. Depending on the cytoplasmic domain, CD56 exists in three main isoforms: NCAM-120, NCAM-140, and NCAM-180¹. CD56, also known as NCAM (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule), Leu-19 and NKH1, is present on NK and NKT cells. CD56 is also expressed in the brain (cerebellum and cortex) and at neuromuscular junctions. Aberrant CD56 expression is observed in a range of hematological malignancies such as multiple myeloma and leukemia² as well as in solid tumors such as lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and neuroblastoma³.

The antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and conjugated with a fluorophore under optimal conditions.

RECOMMENDED USAGE

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested using flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is 5 µL per 1 million cells in a staining volume of 100 µL. If whole blood is analyzed, then use 5 µL per 100 µL. It is recommended that users titrate the antibody to obtain the optimal result for their specific application.

Please briefly centrifuge the reagent vial before use.
