Description

The mouse monoclonal antibody clone AD2 binds to human CD73, a 70 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked 5’-nucleotidase. CD73, also known as ecto-5’-nucleotidase, has an enzymatic activity to convert extracellular adenosine 5’-monophosphate (AMP) to adenosine. It is present in subsets of both T and B cells and is found at a high level on B cells. It is also expressed in mesenchymal stem cells, follicular dendritic cells, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells. CD73 is also a novel immune checkpoint associated with adenosine metabolism whose expression may promote tumor progression by suppressing antitumor immune response and promoting angiogenesis. CD73 expression level may be a marker of poor cancer prognosis.
