Brefeldin A Solution (1000X)
Brefeldin A (BFA) is a protein transport inhibitor that can be added to cell culture medium during in vitro activation of cells to inhibit the secretion of cytokines elicited by stimulation. Addition of BFA leads to leads to an accumulation of newly synthesized protein in the Golgi complex. The use of Brefeldin A effectively enhances the detection of most mouse and human intracellular cytokines however, other protein transport inhibitors such as Monensin can also be used. It is recommended that investigators evaluate the optimal reagent to use for their specific assay system.
