説明

The mouse monoclonal antibody clone SN8 binds to human CD79b, also known as Igβ (immunoglobulin beta). CD79b is a 37–47 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that forms a heterodimer with CD79a (Igα) and associates noncovalently with membrane-bound immunoglobulin to constitute the B-cell receptor (BCR) complex. CD79b is expressed throughout most stages of B-cell development, beginning at the pre-B cell stage and continuing through mature peripheral B cells, but is absent on plasma cells. The CD79a/CD79b signaling heterodimer contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) within their cytoplasmic domains, which are essential for antigen-dependent B-cell activation, intracellular signaling, and B-cell maturation. Clone SN8 recognizes human CD79b and is suitable for the identification and immunophenotypic analysis of B lymphocytes by flow cytometry. CD79b detection is commonly used in studies of normal B-cell differentiation as well as in the characterization of B-cell leukemias and lymphomas.
