Galectin-9 is one of fifteen members of the galectin family of glycan-binding proteins. It is expressed on activated T helper cells and Foxp3+ T regulatory cells and plays a critical role in the regulation of immune function. Interaction of Galectin-9 with its ligand, TIM3, induces apoptosis in Th1 and Th17, inhibits Th17 polarization and IFN gamma expression, and drives Treg expansion. Galectin-9 is also thought to contribute to the survival and expansion of some tumors by inhibiting the anti-tumor response and promoting immune evasion. Along with Galectin-1 and Galectin-3, high levels of Galectin-9 expression are associated with poor cancer prognosis, making these potential therapeutic targets.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eApplications Reported:  This 9M1-3 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eApplications Tested: This 9M1-3 antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. This can be used at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL.
