CD8 alpha is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily which heterodimerizes with CD8 beta to form the CD8 antigen expressed on CD4+CD8+, double-positive thymocytes, the majority of MHC class I-restricted peripheral T cells, and on some macrophages. CD8 binds to MHC class I expressed on the surface of antigen-presenting cells during antigen presentation, and participates in T-cell receptor signal transduction through association with the kinase Lck.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eApplications Reported: This OX8 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eApplications Tested: This OX8 antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of rat splenocytes. This may be used at less than or equal to 0.5 µg per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells\/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eeFluor 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue.  eFluor 450 emits at 446 nm and is excited with the violet laser line (405 nm).
